How Much Does It Cost to Develop a Fitness App in 2026?

The short answer, as of September 2026: a bespoke fitness app built by an agency costs anywhere from about $25,000 for the simplest version to well over $150,000 for one with AI coaching, streaming or wearable sync, plus maintenance every year after that. A no-code builder that can publish to both stores costs $36 to $39 a month plus weeks of your own time. A white-label coaching platform costs roughly $25 to $275 a month depending on client count, with a branded version ranging from a $169 one-off to the top tier. A productised branded app is a flat monthly fee with no build cost. Which is right depends on whether you are building a product to sell to the public or running a training business that needs an app. This post prices all three routes, then compares them over 12 months for a trainer with 30 clients.

Route 1: bespoke development, and what agencies actually quote
Three agency cost guides published in 2026, each opened while writing this:
- Cleveroad (updated May 2026): basic apps $35,000 to $60,000, medium $60,000 to $100,000, advanced $100,000 to $180,000 or more. Hourly rates from $80 to $150 in North America and $60 to $120 in Western Europe down to $20 to $50 in Asia. Ongoing support quoted at $3,000 to $8,000 a month.
- Appinventiv (May 2026): basic $40,000 to $80,000, mid-level $80,000 to $150,000, advanced $150,000 to $400,000 or more. Three to six months for a basic version, six to twelve for a complete product.
- Space-O Technologies (January 2026): simple $25,000 to $35,000, medium $35,000 to $45,000, complex from $50,000, and a recommendation to budget 15 to 25% of the development cost every year for maintenance.
These are agencies selling development, so the ranges have an interest behind them. The spread still tells the story: even the cheapest credible quote for a simple app is five figures, and a product with video, payments and wearables is six.
Scope drives the number: two platforms, a backend, video storage, payments, an admin panel, design, testing and store submission each add weeks. Then the part people forget: Apple and Google change their requirements every year, and an app nobody maintains eventually breaks or is removed from the stores, so whichever agency estimate you take, maintenance is a permanent line item.
Bespoke is the right route for a company building a fitness product for the public, or a chain with genuinely unusual requirements. For a trainer or a single gym it means paying premium engineering prices to rebuild features that already exist, a trade-off we covered in should you build a custom app for your salon or gym.
Route 2: no-code builders and white-label platforms
No-code app builders
If you are comfortable with software and have weeks to spare, a no-code builder is the cheapest way to make a fitness app yourself. As of September 2026, from the vendors' own pages:
- Adalo: Starter at $36 a month billed annually for one published app with App Store and Google Play publishing and no Adalo branding; Professional $52 for two apps; Team $160 for five.
- FlutterFlow: Basic at $39 a month with one-click App Store deployment and code download; Growth $80; Business $150.
- Glide: builds progressive web apps, and Glide's own help centre says its apps cannot be published in traditional app stores like Google Play or the Apple App Store. Fine for a web app, not for a store listing.
On top of any builder you need an Apple Developer Program membership at $99 a year and a Google Play developer account with a US$25 one-time registration fee.
The money is small; the time is not. You are assembling programme delivery, exercise videos, progress tracking, chat and payments from generic blocks, you fix it when a store update breaks something, and the result tends to look like a builder app.
White-label coaching platforms
The faster route is a platform that already has the fitness features and lets you put your branding on it. Check what "branded" means, because it ranges from your logo inside the vendor's app to a separate app under your name in the stores. As of September 2026, from each vendor's pricing page:
| Platform | Base plan | Branded app | | --- | --- | --- | | ABC Trainerize | Pro from $25 a month (5 clients) to $135 (50); Studio Plus from $275 (500) | Pro Custom Branded App $169 one-time, your logo and colours on the Trainerize app; a fully white-labelled app under your name is included with Studio; Apple account $99 a year | | PT Distinction | Basic $19.90 (3 clients); Pro $59.90 (25); Master $89.90 (50) | Your own custom branded Android and iOS apps included on Pro and Master | | Everfit | Free (5 clients); Pro $19 (5) to $95 (50) and $160 (100) | Branding inside the Everfit app; a separately listed white-label app is arranged through sales | | TrueCoach | $26.34 (5); $57.99 (20); $136.99 (50) | Custom-branded app included on Standard and Pro; payments cost a flat 5% per transaction | | My PT Hub | Premium €59 a month, unlimited clients (page shown to us in euros) | Custom Branded App €95 one-time; White Label App with your own store listings €145 a month |
Add-ons for nutrition, payments and automation typically add $10 to $45 a month each, and Stripe or the platform's processor takes a cut of every payment. We break the biggest one down in our separate Trainerize pricing post.
Platforms are the right start for most trainers. Their weakness shows as you grow: client-count tiers climb, the branded app is often a coloured skin rather than your own listing, and the client relationship sits with the platform.
Route 3: create your own fitness app without building it
The third route is a productised branded app: the engineering already exists, and what you buy is your own app, under your own name and logo in the App Store and Google Play, for a flat monthly fee. This is what we do at Codersy Apps. There is no development fee, no per-client fee, and you can cancel any month. You see a demo on your own phone within 7 days and the app is live in both stores in 3 to 4 weeks.
For personal trainers the package is a client app plus a trainer app: programmes, exercise video demos with your existing library imported, measurements and progress photos, weekly check-ins, in-app chat, session booking and a payments overview, with the monthly price quoted within one working day. Lazar Jovanović, a personal trainer since 2018, runs his coaching on his own app in both stores. Gyms and studios get a member app plus a staff app with multi-trainer scheduling, class booking, memberships and conflict prevention. Details are on our personal trainer app, gym app and white-label fitness app pages.
It is not for a coach with eight clients, who should use a platform's free or entry tier and revisit this when the roster and the brand have grown, nor for a company building a consumer product, which needs a bespoke build.
12-month cost comparison for a trainer with 30 clients
Same trainer in every row: 30 clients, an app with programmes, video, tracking, chat and payments, and their own name on it. Monthly billing, year one, prices as above. Add Stripe's or the platform's processing fee on client payments to every row.
| Route | Year-one arithmetic | Year-one total | | --- | --- | --- | | Bespoke, cheapest credible | $35,000 build (Cleveroad, low end of basic) + $99 Apple + $25 Google + 15% maintenance ($5,250) | $40,374 | | No-code, Adalo Starter | $36 × 12 = $432 + $99 Apple + $25 Google | $556 plus weeks of your time and no fitness features to start from | | ABC Trainerize Pro 30 + Pro branded app | $79 × 12 = $948 + Stripe add-on $10 × 12 = $120 + $169 + $99 Apple | $1,336, for your logo on the Trainerize app | | ABC Trainerize Studio Plus | $275 × 12 = $3,300 + $99 Apple | $3,399, for a white-labelled app under your name | | PT Distinction Pro | $59.90 + 5 extra clients × $2.40 = $71.90 × 12 | $862.80, branded apps included | | My PT Hub Premium + White Label App | (€59 + €145) × 12 | €2,448, with your own store listings | | Codersy Apps productised branded app | Flat monthly quote × 12, no development fee, no per-client fee | Your quote × 12 |
The Trainerize Pro 30 figure of $79 comes from two mid-2026 reviews of the pricing slider; the page itself prints the $25 to $135 range. Everfit is left out because its Pro tiers jump from 20 clients at $49 to 50 at $95, and its own-name listing has no published price.
Two things stand out. Bespoke costs roughly thirty times any other route for the same trainer, and its maintenance line alone exceeds a year of a platform. Among the platforms, a real store listing under your name is the difference between the $169 skin and the $275 a month tier or the €145 a month add-on, and that is the number to compare a flat productised fee against.
How to make a fitness app: the decision in five steps
- Decide what you are. A product company builds bespoke. A trainer or gym buys an app.
- List the features clients use every week. Programmes, video demos, tracking, check-ins, chat, booking and payments.
- Count clients now and in 12 months. Price the per-client tiers at the larger number.
- Decide what "your own app" must mean. Your logo inside someone else's app is cheap; your name in the store listing costs more on every platform.
- Ask who maintains it. If the answer is you, favour a route where maintenance is included in the price.
The bottom line
Fitness app development cost in 2026 runs from $25,000 upwards for bespoke work, $36 to $39 a month plus your evenings for a no-code build, $25 to $275 a month for a white-label platform depending on client count and how real the branding is, and a flat monthly fee for a productised branded app. For a working trainer or a single gym, the real choice is between a platform tier and an app that is yours. If you would like a monthly price for the second, get in touch and we will quote it within a working day.
